Gen3D ===== (c) 1997 Jake Birkett About ===== This program allows you to use the mouse to define a 2D shape which you can spin and zoom in 3D. You can also add other 2D shapes to build up a 3D image. The program was never finished: it was going to be used to make shapes for the View3 program, but there is currently no save facility. Usage ===== Press F5 to engage Line Drawing mode. Click in the black area to define points to which lines are drawn. Try drawing a square, but don't draw the last line. Pressing Escape will join the last point to the first point that you drew, thus completing the shape. Now press S to Spin the Shape in 3D. Note how it is light sourced. Press Z to engage Auto-Zoom In and Out mode. Pressing S or Z again turns off the corresponding function. Currently A - Animate does nothing. Pressing Escape at any point will reset the Spin Angle and Zoom back to 0. If you want to clear the image and start again, press F12. Changing the colour will only affect the next shape drawn. When a shape is spinning, using H will Hide the shape if it is not facing the viewer. This is useful when building up a 2D shape with a different front and back (by using the N Angle facility to view the other side of the shape). NOTE: To make sure shapes are hidden if not facing the viewer, you MUST draw them clockwise! Examples ======== NAMEPLATE: Draw a square CLOCKWISE! Change Colour. Draw your initials with 2 different shapes in the square. Press N to rotate by 180 degrees Change Colour. Draw a square Clockwise. Change Colour. Draw a random shape in the square. Press S and Z to Spin and Zoom. Press H to toggle Hide on. Note how you can only see one side of the square at once! IMPOSSIBLE SPIRAL: Begin to draw a hexagon ... except press - (minus) before clicking the next point. This moves the Z coordinate back for each point. Keep drawing the hexagon several times. When you have finished press Escape. Make sure H Hide is off. Press Spin and watch the impossible shape!
